Adverse Credit History

Adverse Credit HistoryCan you be accepted for the police with adverse credit history?

When I asked I would not get a straight answer.

It depends on what credit history is, how long it was etc. - If you ask a PC, they will tell you the next step, it does not mean you can never be one, it means they simply wish that you live in the good credit of at least one year. The best thing is to apply and see if you are turned down, ask them what you need to reapply. Unless your credit history is close to criminal, they accept you once you've proven you can clean

I am a police officer, when I called they asked me all sorts of questions about credit and other things ... So yes, they ask because its something they can hit you on the back ..... but I would still apply, they evaluate each case individually

Yes they can, but obviously, you must show proof that you pay the debt and your payments are regular and manageable. It was part of the code of conduct for the police. Failing to pay a legal debt was a serious thing, but it is now recognized that people live their lives on credit. As long as you manage your debts, just communicate on the application, if you do not discover they will dishonestly and your question.
It does not prevent you from joining, so do not worry.

I worked in the Human Resources office of my police service. credit history is checked and a bad story says a lot about someone. A "not good" history will affect your chances, but it depends on the rest of your qualifications. If everything else about you is fantastic (good references, good education, work experience, community involvement), then the effect of credit history will be reduced. They can not give you a clear answer as it is, it is "maybe".

I do not think so?

It would affect your chances of joining the police

Yes, having a bad credit history can and will affect your eligibility in law enforcment and even some parts of the army (and other jobs too).
Someone who can not manage money and borrows bad does not seem to be a responsible person. There are those who may find themselves in a situation of bad debts that were not big spenders, but regardless, it is a black mark on a background check.
Nothing is set in concrete Tho. Be honest and maybe things are going in your favor.

I would say yes because this is not a criminal conviction, if you have county court judgments could be another story.

Ask about the hotline recruitment.

Bad credit can prevent you from many jobs. The police would be one of those.

no

In England and Wales, you might have a problem. It depends where you are in the process.
If your credit history has been bad in the past, but now you're solvent, no problem.
Are you currently subject to CCJS or other legal action, then no, it is very unlikely they will take you.
I am currently a serving police officer and a person I know who is a member of the police personnel tried to reach earlier this year. She received "vida" precisely for this reason.
If you want more tips, please send me an email.
Sorry if this is not the answer you want, but Merry Christmas anyway.

Declare to them, they can only say NO
