Extract from the Formula BMW USA, Mosport The 17-year-old Daniel Morad after taking a 67 point lead in the standings and qualification in the final two rounds of the 2007 Formula BMW USA Championship at Motosport International Raceway sponsored by the manufacturer of high quality catalytic converter BMW , BMW this coming weekend is the hope of winning the Formula BMW USA title this year in the presence of his supporters.
Morad is a native of Toronto and Rookie Champion last year. He knows a remarkable season this year, standing on the podium nine times, five of them are on the top step.
Morad is one of seven drivers who participated in the 15-car field at Mosport last year. Her experience on the track seems sure it will be able to obtain high scores this weekend. It needs only a seventh place in the first race of the weekend to recover the title during that rookie season Gutierrez Champion Team Autotecnica Esteban is the only driver with a chance to beat Morad. Gutierrez is also very young age of 16 only. It is from Monterey, Mexico and put a record eight poles and won the rookie title with his fourth win of the season series 12 at Road America.
The three other drivers who could challenge Gutierrez in the total points include Alexander Rossi Team Apex Racing USA and HBR Motorsport Team USA teammates Maxime Pelletier and Steven Guerrero. Rossi is from California and came on strong in the final stages of the season, winning two of the last four races. He is currently third in total points. Meanwhile, the second year of Formula BMW USA drivers Pelletier and Guerrero is the fourth and fifth, respectively, were able to obtain four podium finishes and has never finished in the top 10.
On August 23, 2007 was the day of official testing, while the final Formula BMW USA weekend of the 2007 season begins this Friday practice sessions at 9:35-10:00 am and 12:55 - 1:20 pm. 13th qualifying round is scheduled for 5:15-5:40 pm while Round 14 qualifying will take place at 8:00-8:25 am. Round 13 is on Saturday at 5:00 pm. Cycle 14 is scheduled the next day, Sunday at 1:30 pm.
