Since the budget presentation, I tried to find how the government will really throw us for small businesses with cash flow challenges of VAT and loan guarantees. Is it spin or has anyone worked on how to enter on this line of life?

Under the pre-budget report, Alistair Darling has announced a new financial support for small businesses
1, the new Small Business Finance Scheme to support up to 1 billion pounds of bank loans
2 a 1 billion pounds separate guarantee facility to support bank lending to small business exporters
3 to 50 million pounds of funding to convert debt into equity firms
4 to 25 million pounds of transitional regional funds loan.

However ... little detail on this subject have been announced by the government and, apparently, the new funding regime for small enterprises must be guaranteed by the government 75% and 25% by banks and will enter into force no later than February 2009. But it may come as a surprise to the banks as it was for the general public!

Darling said the contractors temporary scheme will be able to borrow between £ 1,000 and £ 1m "on terms more flexible than before." He added that the initiative aims to help "SMEs that have short-term cash flow problems get the financing they need." So much for SMEs, but no details on the criteria!
