Canadian Credit Repair If you have less than perfect credit, you might have been tempted by advertisements offering credit repair services. In newspapers, TV, radio and Internet services on credit repair claim to be able to remove bankruptcies, create new identities for credit, and even erase bad credit. Some, however, may be scams, so before taking any of these offers, please read avoid scams.
In Canada, the negative information on your credit report is usually given for six or seven years. Bankruptcy information can be reported for a maximum of 12 years. default information on Canadian insured or guaranteed student loans can be reported for seven years.
