Lease Returns

Lease ReturnsCan the IRS garnish your tax returns in respect of a loan auto lease?

friend of my wife said that his tax return was filled because of the money she had on a rental car, Toyota dating from 1997. Is this possible? Can the IRS do?!

Generally, the IRS has authority to garnish the refunds back taxes owed the federal government.

The state can decorate your state refund, if your state has an income tax, on taxes related to the state or due child support.

The automaker may sell your car rental account to a collection agency to collect overdue amounts, but these amounts are not considered taxes!

No Tax refunds (which is money the government sends to you and what you're probably saying) are filled only for child support, debts owed to the government, and student loans. Tax returns (which are documents that you send to the government) are not filled for any reason.

No - they can not do if you owe taxes or loans.

But other loans can garnish your wages with a court order.
