Loan Settlement Calculator

My exhusband makes me a settlement payments to $ 25,000. Our argreement is $ 250 per month at a rate of 6.5%. He said he would like to make advance payments, but is not sure how this will effect the extent of the loan. He asked his bank and was told he would have to understand long-hand. Is there a computer program to help understand everything? He said that if I can understand, it may simply continue with payments of $ 250. I could really use the extra money to pay my bill for the lawyer. Any help would be appreciated!
