I work for a financial institution. I have used both Lutheran Social Services and Catholic Charities. Both use professionals.to trained to serve you.

They are a nonprofit organization so that the service is free.
They also have a website set up where you can make changes (increase pymt to a creditor, a creditor delete statement, etc.) There are too many features to name. You also receive statments monthly to let you know what date your money left there hands and went to your creditor.

I've been with them for 2 years and counting and their customer service is too large. Gotta problem? They will repair it and send you a confirmation.

In my opinion, the best to do is CCCS (Consumer Credit Counseling Services). The website is www.cccsstl.org. It is a nonprofit organization, and is part of the Better Business Bureau. I try to do the same thing as you here soon. I was a collector of debts for two years, CCCS has actually been the most commonly used by debtors / customers.
