Biased Consumer Credit Counseling Advisor Services (CCCS)? I always had concerns people referring to this service. Credit Counseling Services Consumer is not a true non-profit like the Red Cross. It is a non-profit organization that has created, funded and supported by the credit card industry.
For those who have gone through this program: Have you had the feeling they were really a lawyer of your credit card companies instead of you? Did they try to discourage you from bankruptcy, even if your debt is overwhelming and you felt that you?
I have not been there, but the company I used to work for used to get calls all the time, offering $ 10 month's payment on behalf of people who owed us the money, and then asks us to pay $ 10 per payment, as well. Hmmmm - we refused, because it seems they have been asking the company to accept payment $ 10 per month, then the company pays for the privilege SCSI.
But one thing I'm pretty sure is that they discourage people from filing bankruptcy, but the sad thing is that even if you go with them and have them arrange payments low for you, you still get a bad credit rating / report, exactly as if you had declared bankruptcy. So ...... which is the obvious choice?
When I was in retail credit in the '70s, they call on behalf of one of our customers who have signed with them and said there a fee to agree to our customers. Some of these companies have to pay tax, but you must remember the economy was not as bad as it is today ..
