Student Loan Debt Help How to forgive the debt of student loans? If you have already consolidated your student loans and no matter how many years you pay, the addition of interest does not balance down, is there a way to excuse this debt? As far as I know the only way to get a student loan forgiveness is to prove total disability, meaning that you can not work at all. Like other poster mentioned, not even the bankruptcy filing will erase a student loan. I have a friend trying to get her forgiveness - he has not worked in 4 years, but all they do is continue to give extenstions. If you can prove financial hardship, you may be able to do the same thing - just keep get extensions. At least this "freezing" of the balance - during the extension period no interest is charged. Not sure of your situation but perhaps it can buy you enough time to save money to repay. I want an answer to this too. I was looking for a job for months now and it does not look good. And my loans are in default. There must be a way. No, surely you make enough money to repay your debt. Have you tried to transfer a credit card low interest? It is an option. Those do not disappear. Try calling those of debt and firms with bankruptcy. I see their ads around all the time. even bankruptcy does not wash his student loans .... success Student loans can never be forgiven. It is currently considered a good credit if you really need to find a means of payment. loan rates are very minimal, considering the other rates. try to call your lender and get a deferment or forbearance.
